Desk Compatibility

Will my desk work with Elevated Seating?
Elevated Seating positions you between sitting and standing, so you sit noticeably higher than in a conventional chair. Your keyboard, mouse, and screen need to rise with you, and a standard fixed-height desk is usually too low.

How high you need to go depends on your body and on how upright you set the chair. The more elevated your seat angle, the higher your desk needs to be, so being able to adjust your desk is part of getting the full experience.

The recommended setup: a height-adjustable desk
A height-adjustable desk with a range of roughly 70 to 125 cm (28 to 49 inches) covers the full span of Elevated Seating, from a relaxed lower recline to the most upright position. It lets you fine-tune your working height in seconds whenever you change your seat angle.

No height-adjustable desk? A desk riser can work
If your desk is fixed, a desk riser (a sit-stand converter that sits on top of your desk) can raise your keyboard and mouse to the right height. For this setup to work well, your monitor should also be height-adjustable, either on the riser's upper shelf or on a separate monitor arm, so your screen stays at eye level while your hands stay at elbow height. Check the riser's height range and load rating against your equipment.

A height-adjustable desk remains the setup we recommend; a riser is a workable alternative, not an equal one.

Not sure? We'll check for you. Send us your height and your desk's dimensions and we'll confirm whether your setup is ready for Elevated Seating.

Two chairs. Four decades apart. The same pursuit of better seating.

40 years in the making

For Klaus Kummer, the Vision Chair is the result of four decades spent questioning how a chair can better support the way we sit.

Decades of prototypes led to T-Mech™ and the Vision Chair. Explore some of those early ideas below.
